I am a Sworn (Certified) Translator graduated from the Law School of the University of Buenos Aires. I became a member of the Association of Sworn Translators in 1988.
In Argentina, the Sworn Translator’s profession is regulated by Statute 20.305. This statute establishes that any foreign language document to be filed with a public entity or agency shall be accompanied by a translation into Spanish that bears the signature and the official seal of a translator registered with the pertaining Sworn Translators’ Association. By signing and sealing the translated version, Sworn Translators assume ethical and legal responsibility for their work.
The Association then legalizes the Translator’s signature and guarantees compliance with the formalities.
